Phalaenopsis Hybrid
Orchids (Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium)Mood Meter: Needs a Little Love
Also called: Phalaenopsis Orchid, Phal Orchid
Common epiphytic orchid with thick strap-like leaves, fleshy exposed roots, and arching spikes of broad moth-like flowers.
Growth habit: epiphytic rosette.
Plant Mood Meter: Needs a Little Love
Phalaenopsis are forgiving once their epiphytic roots are understood, but dense wet media and poor light commonly cause trouble.
Care guide
Bright indirect light. Direct sun: Gentle morning sun can be tolerated; avoid strong midday sun.
Water thoroughly when roots/media are approaching dry, then drain fully; avoid keeping the crown or root zone continuously wet.
Very airy orchid bark or similarly coarse epiphytic medium; do not use dense standard potting soil.
Average to moderate humidity is suitable with good air movement.
Flower spikes may be staked for presentation; the plant itself does not require climbing support.
