About Planticist
Plant problems rarely come down to a single clue.
A brown leaf can mean a lot of different things. Where the browning appears matters. So does the soil, the roots, the light, the texture of the damaged tissue, the rest of the plant, and what changed before the problem started.
Planticist was created around a simple idea: understanding a plant requires looking at the whole picture.
Rather than relying on a single photo and guessing at an answer, Planticist guides you through observations that help narrow down what is actually happening.
The same approach applies to plant identification. Leaf shape, growth habit, stems, texture, color, pattern, and other characteristics all provide evidence. Planticist brings those clues together instead of expecting one image to tell the whole story.
Get better at plants
The goal isn't simply to hand you an answer.
Planticist is designed to help you learn what to look for, understand what different symptoms can mean, and become better at interpreting what your plants are telling you.
You might come here because you think you have a brown thumb. You may leave realizing that keeping plants alive isn't some mysterious talent. It's observation, understanding, and learning what to do with the evidence in front of you.
Still growing
Planticist is currently in beta.
The plant library, diagnostic knowledge, identification logic, and tools for plant owners are actively expanding. The system will continue getting better as more plants, observations, conditions, and real-world scenarios are added.
Planticist was created by Nicole Steinruck, founder of Technicole, combining a longtime interest in plants with an approach to building systems around evidence, relationships, and better decision-making.
The goal is simple: help more people understand what their plants are telling them.
